As an Ex-Art Director who worked in New York City I saw a lot of strange and wonderful stuff. I saw a lot of companies fall apart due to some very foolish moves. I got to admit that it was a mad chain of events back in the dot com era. A lot of companies had mega web sites that were supported with television ads, billboards, radio and television air time fueled money sucking campaigns that brought in dismal returns. Sadly enough though I miss those days.
Advertising grew up a bit in the last 2 years. Even though a lot of money got fizzled away on bad investments and faulty gurus I am going to miss that blind enthusiasm. These days things are a little more precise. In fact, you can track where your money is going when it comes to advertising on the web. You can track how long people are looking at your material online. You can track how long they are staying on your web pages and how long they are looking at your web videos. Its very exciting to say the least. If nothing else it is going to keep a lot of people a little more honest when it comes to delivering these amazing platforms.
Metro Detroit has been fortunate in a lot of ways. They never got swindled into the hype and idolatry of the Internet world. That has paid off for a lot of businesses who stayed in Metro Detroit and fought it out with the corporate powers of this world. The tech wave jumped Metro Detroit at least two times leaving it unscathed and unharmed from the over promising new horizons of the dot com movement.
Detroit is a sleeping giant when it comes to web site marketing. There are a lot of powerhouses in these cold industrial streets. We have had a lot of Internet masterminds come through Metro Detroit through free seminars and workshops. There are some not so famous online marketers here that have really figured out how the web world ticks. This is interesting.
My team has taken on Kawasaki and Yamaha recently and have climbed to the top of 15 million competing pages in just a small amount of time, (roughly two weeks). Now take New York City, which is very small in comparison. We have about 53,000 pages for cosmetic dentists in Manhattan. I know my team can beat that number and place any dentist in the top 4 spots on page 1. I know we can do this because we do this all day long.
Think about what we do in Detroit. We are beating 15 million pages in some of our markets. There is also a case where I am helping a company penetrate 30 million pages of competition! We got it hard here in Detroit but in a lot of ways we are working harder to become more innovative.
The idea to do a SEO site in New York City came in a flash of inspiration. We wanted to have an online presence there in the city and introduce a whole new level of online internet marketing. We are rolling out a new site now that will feature a whole new level of Internet marketing for the businesses and corporations.
People need to see this. People need to wake up. I took a recent tour to my old business neighborhood in the East Coast and found Stamford, CT and Norwalk to be absolutely dead. I found New York hilarious. Its been years since I did business there. Do companies really have time to do soft launches, endless meetings and cash in on empty promises? I like to see companies land sales in three steps.
Its time to wake up.
